“Then she called the name of the LORD who spoke to her, You-Are-the-God-Who-Sees; for she said, “Have I also here seen Him who sees me?”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭16:13‬ NKJV‭

God sees us. He is omnipresent; His eyes are everywhere and we cannot hide from Him. When we realize truly that God is near to us and He sees us, it is easy for us to be patient and stay on the task.

We see in Genesis 16, the story of Sarai and Hagar. Abraham and Sarah didn’t have any kids; They had received promise from Almighty God that He will give them descendants (Genesis 13: 16). But as they were getting older they got impatient.

So Sarah (who was previously known as Sarai) gave her Egyptian maid Hagar as a wife for Abraham. And Hagar conceived. But when Hagar knew that she was pregnant, she began to treat her mistress, Sarai, with contempt. So Sarai treated Hagar so harshly that she ran away.

And now Hagar is in wilderness. When you run away from your master’s presence; you reach in wilderness. And it is true that many times wilderness helps us to hear God’s voice more clearly. (Hosea 2:14)

There Angel of God found her and told her to go back and submit herself under the hands of Sarai. The angel also told her to name the child Ishmael and God will multiply him exceedingly. And that is when she called on the name of the Lord who spoke to her. And she said , “You are the God who sees me and Have I truly seen the one who sees me”?

Hagar was a slave in Abraham’s house. Everything that happened in Hagar’s life in chapter 16 is because she despised Sarai and became impatient. She was also a victim of the impatience of people around her. When we are impatient, it affects not only us but also the people around us.

“Whoever is patient has great understanding, but one who is quick-tempered displays folly.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭14:29‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“Do you see someone who speaks in haste? There is more hope for a fool than for them.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭29:20‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Here we see as a result of Sarai’s impatience with God, Ishmael was born and it had a lasting consequences on generations to come.

And because Hagar despised her mistress and became impatient with her, she ran away from her mistress and all her responsibilities. But it is written there that the Angel of God found her, after she ran away from her mistress. I love the scripture that says the angel found her, implying that the angel was searching for her.

In 1 Samuel 13, we read about King Saul who became very impatient and it resulted in disobedience. He offered up the burnt offerings before God, without waiting for prophet Samuel. As a result, Samuel told him that Saul’s kingdom will not be established over Israel forever. And God has already found a man after His own heart [ David] and appointed him to be the leader of His people.

Patience is a virtue. And lack of patience will have lasting consequences in our life and we will miss out on our blessings.

For ye have need of patience, that, having done the will of God, ye may receive the promise.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭10:36‬ ‭ASV‬‬

Many times, God gives us responsibilities and missions. But when life gets hard we become impatient. So we run away from those responsibilities, thinking that if we run away everything will be fine. And if we stay it will be worse. But there is a truth that we often forget here, or may be we don’t want to remember. That is in all those situations He is the God who sees you!!!

We have two small kids. When me or my husband gives them a task or responsibility we make sure they are able to do it. Otherwise we give them instructions and guidelines on how to do that. And we watch them closely. At any point if they really need our help, they will ask and we go and help them. So it is our kids confidence that Dad and Mom are watching them, and as parents we don’t walk away from them, but stay near so they can see us. It is same with God our loving Father in heaven. He sees us and He is so near to us that we are able to experience His presence. So in times of hardships and difficulties be patient and don’t run away from Him, but run to Him.

But there are also occasions when our kids gets very impatient and they will just leave everything and walk away. And that sometimes disappoints us parents, that they didn’t try their level best or didn’t ask for our help. So we will go and ask them, why didn’t they ask for our help? When I think about God our Father, this is how He feels when many times we walk away from the tasks and responsibilities God gives us.

And if or kids stay patiently on their task and finish it, we will rejoice together and even give them treats!!! That’s why bible says in Ecclesiastes 7:8 “Finishing is better than starting. Patience is better than pride.” NLT

When we trust and see the God who sees us, we can stay on the mission. And the difficulties that we face helps us to develop endurance, which is really needed for us to finish the race that God has set before us.

“We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭5:3-4‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“Therefore……let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭12:1-2‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

How can we see God?

We hear about people having different experiences through which they have seen God. Let me tell you the ways with which I see God in my life;

  • Through His Word.
  • Through the Holy Spirit living inside of me.
  • Looking to my past experiences and remembering how God was so near to me and helped me and
  • Through the life testimonies of other believers. (we are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses ( Hebrews 12:1)).
  • Through the creation that proclaims His glory🙌

The greatest example of patience is Jesus Christ himself. Not only that he patiently endured the cross for our redemption, He is also waiting patiently for the mankind to return to Him.

As we all are waiting and watching on Jesus’ second coming , let us remember this verse:

“The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.”
‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭3:9‬ ‭NLT‬‬

And the entire creation is waiting patiently looking forward for that future day when God will reveal who his children really are.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:19‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will reveal to us later…..if we look forward to something we don’t yet have, we must wait patiently and confidently.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:18-25‬ ‭NLT‬‬

For all those who are waiting for the fulfillment of God’s promises in their life, remember He sees you and He is always right on time. Wait upon Him. He is faithful in every way!!

So as apostle paul wrote in Romans 12:12 let us all, “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”

May God help us all❤️🙏
